TREATMENTS
PLANS

Occlusal planes or intraoral devices are a therapeutic and orthopedic tool that, depending on their design, can prevent wear on dental surfaces due to sleep or wakefulness bruxism and allow for other treatment functions depending on each patient's diagnosis.
BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Often, muscle tension and the cause of sleep and waking bruxism can be related to the psychological state (anxiety/depression) inherent in today's stressful life. Many treatments combine therapeutic tools that allow us to become aware of what is generating this tension and make the necessary changes for significant and sustained improvement over time.

OCCLUSAL STABILIZATION
The loss of teeth leads to inadequate mastication, causing significant joint changes. Therefore, rehabilitating and replacing these teeth stabilizes the cervicocraniomandibular complex. In addition, restoring proper occlusion (bite) will allow the recovery of lost physiological functions.

BOTOX and HYALURONIC ACID
In patients with masseteric hypertrophy and in some cases of sleep bruxism, Botox injections can be used at specific points to reduce the hyperfunction of these muscles, taking into account that it is a reversible treatment that lasts for a set period of time, requiring new applications if necessary.
In addition, patients with osteoarthritis and joint noise could improve with viscosupmentation of high-density hyaluronic acid injections.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
Sleep bruxism, waking bruxism and other parafunctions generate hyperfunction of masticatory muscles that generate tense and painful bands that can affect the face, neck and back. This requires specific exercises that help palliatively reduce symptoms and improve function.

PHARMACOLOGY
In acute phases of pain, as well as in chronic pain, pharmacology in an established protocol significantly improves the patient's symptoms. This allows the physician to work with other therapeutic measures to manage the pain and advance the patient's recovery.

MANDIBULAR ADVANCEMENT DEVICE
Patients suffering from ronchopathy or obstructive sleep apnea diagnosed by polysomnography by the neurologist, in certain cases can be treated with these devices that advance the jaw and allow the airway to open.

MINDFULNESS
Meditation is a human capacity that allows us to reflect on things, ideas, and thoughts, whether our own or others', to achieve clarity of thought.
In Eastern culture, especially Buddhism, the word meditation (bhavana) is associated with spirituality. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) research demonstrates how meditation activates the thalamus, primary and secondary somatosensory cortices, the insula, the prefrontal cortex, and the anterior cingulate cortex, improving pain perception.

SLEEP HYGIENE

Sleep hygiene is the set of habits and behaviors that facilitate sleep, avoiding anything that interferes with it.
Inadequate sleep hygiene is defined in the International Classification of Sleep Disorders as
"a sleep disorder secondary to the performance of daily life activities that are inconsistent with maintaining good quality sleep and remaining alert during the day. Sleep hygiene is influenced, among other aspects, by certain environmental factors (light, noise, temperature, etc.) and factors related to health (nutrition, physical exercise and consumption of certain substances).
on the quality of sleep.
